Crematory/Infinity/Massacre Records/2010 CD Review

Crematory are a gothic metal band from Germany that has been around for over 20 years that has also been interviewed by this zine and this is a review of their 2010 album "Infinity".

Drums are mostly muidpaced to slow beats with somee ambient dub influences on this album and there are little or no blast beats on this recording, while the keyboards are very dark sounding and utilize alot of melody thats sounds very symphonic and gothic sounding with somewhat of an industrial edge, as for the bass playing it is mixed down low and has a dark sound.

Rhythm guitars on this album have a very melodic and heavy sound with some slow riffs that change into midpaced rythyms with alot of palm muting that mixes in some thrash influences, while the guitar leads are very melodic and psychedelic sounding, acoustic guitars when they are used sound very slow and melodic with some full chords.

Vocals are mostly deep death metal growls mixed in with alot of clean melodic gothic sounding vocals and at times they contain a death thrash feel, while the lyrics seem to be very poetic and depressing on some songs, as for the production it sounds very professional and you can hear all of the instruments very well.

In my opinion this is a good album and Crematory seem to progress with every album without selling out or losing their heaviness, if you are a fan of their previous albums you will not be disapointed.

STANDOUT TRACKS include "Infinity" "Never Look Back" and "Where Are You Now". RECOMMENDED BUY.
