Crematory Interview

1. Can you update us with what is going on with Crematory these days?

We just finished the recordings for our new album INFINITY that will be released on January 29th 2010. INFINITY is the development of our previous album PRAY. The album INFINITY is definitely our masterpiece - an album for infinity!

2. I know the band split up for a while, what made you decide to reform the group?
Our fans were the reason!!! We are fucking thankful for their support!!! They decide how big a band gets and how long it exists. We have to thank our fans the best fans on earth!!!

3. How would you describe the music and lyrical content of the new material?
The target-settings for our new album INFINITY were: faster, louder, darker, harder as before. You'll find two harder and faster songs as well as the well known catchy songs on the album.mThere are also two songs with german lyrics and two ballads on INFINITY, as well as a great cover-version of Depeche mode's masterwork "Black Celebration.

4. What are some of the best shows that you have played so far, and how
would you describe a live Crematory show?
There are lots of but I think that the Wacken Open Air with 80.000 visitors is one oft them.mAlso the concerts in Russia, Bulgaria and Romania, that where overwhelming.
We love small clubshows as well as huge festivalshows.

5. Are there any plans to tour the U.S for the new album?
We'd love to play in the U.S. and if you know a promoter who wants to book us for a couple of shows just tell him to contact us.

6. I know in the mid 80's and the early 90's there was a swedish band
with the same name, have you ever had fans accuse you of being the other
band?
No, never. Because we didn't even know then that there was another band called CREMATORY. But they disappeared as they noticed that they didn't
have the success we had from the beginning on. And so we continued asmCREMATORY and had our big success.

7.What are some bands or music styles that have had a huge influence on
your music?
None, because we brought into focus our best qualities and converted that into the songs. After 19 years of band-history you don't need any influences or idols.
If it's called CREMATORY it is CREMATORY! Fans have never been surprised unpleasant
until now and they will never be. The fans of the previous albums can buy Infinity
blind and they will enjoy it!

8. What are you listening to nowadays?
A mix of everything. Starting with Metal, EBM and also Rock. My interests for musik are very spreaded whichkeeps my eyes open to be creative for CREMATORY'ss music.

9. Some of your lyrics seem to be poetic, are there any poets that have
influenced the songwriting?
Our singer writes the lyrics and he is kind of a poet. He doesn't need any influences
because he is creative and after 19 years of experience he developed his own way to create lyrics.

10. What role does Paganism or Occultism play in the music?
None.We are not really religious and don't really want to have to do with it.

11. How has the newer material been received by the metal/gothic
community so far?
As our last album PRAY has sold very well. I guess that it has been received very well. Our fans love our music and our following is still growing. I think that our new album INFINITY will succeed at least as well as PRAY did!

12. Any final words or thoughts?
For our 20th band-anniversary in February 2011 we will release a greatest hits CD
and DVD with all our hits and video-clips as well as live-concerts and a lot of not
released specials. It will be the crÚme de la crÚmeâ?? of our band-history and a must-have for our fans. We'll also accomplish an expanded greatest-hits-tour with a couple of surprises. No one should miss it!!!
