Goreaphobia are a band from Pennsylvania that has a histroy that dates as far back as the early 90's and also had one of t heir e.p's reviewed in this zine before and the style they play on the new album is classic sounding death metal with some black and thrash metal influences and this is a review of their 2011 album "Apocalyptic Necromancy" which was released by Dark Descent Records.
Drums range from slow, midpaced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown in at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they sound very powerful.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, midpaced to fast old school sounding death metal riffs that also contain influences from thrash and black metal with a great amount of melody being thrown in at times, while the lead guitars are very chaotic and melodic sounding death metal guitar solos.
Vocals are a mixture of deep growls and black/thrash style screams and yells, while the lyrics touch on Necromantic, Occultic and Left Hand Path themes, as for the production it has a verty dark, raw and heavy sound to it.
In my opinion while this is a little bit different than most of the material that I have heard from Goreaphobia I still feel that their fans while enjoy their album and this recording is proof that when someone walks the Left hand Path for more than 20 years it is going to influence whatever peice of music or art that they create, and if you are a fan of this band you should check out this album.
